Nakama is an Android app for creating and chatting with AI roleplay characters. You can build your own characters, discover ones made by the community, and have deep, persistent conversations with them. It supports 8 languages and has NSFW and SFW builds.

Yes — the base tier is free forever. You get Llama 3.3 70B, 10 regenerations/day, basic chat, and the ability to create and publish characters. NAKAMA+ ($5.99/mo) and PRO ($12.99/mo) tiers unlock better AI models and premium features.

Open the app and tap Sign Up. You can register with email/password or Google OAuth. You can also continue as a Guest for limited access without an account.

Create a character from the Library tab, fill in the required fields (name, greeting, personality, gender), then open the character detail and tap Publish.

Yes. Open a character detail ? share icon ? Export as JSON. You can import a JSON file from Settings or via share intent.

FREE: up to 8,300 characters. NAKAMA+: 16,600 characters. PRO: 33,200 characters. The progress bar in the character editor shows your current usage.

Yes, in the full (NSFW-enabled) build. Download the APK and pass the age gate. NSFW characters use Cydonia 24B by default.

Check your internet connection first. If the error says "Server busy", the AI provider is rate-limited — the app retries automatically. If it says "Session expired", go to Settings and sign out then back in.

Every 10 turns, the app automatically summarizes the conversation and stores key facts in a Memory Pool. These facts are injected into every subsequent prompt so the character remembers what happened.

? Action inserts italicized text for physical actions. ? Thought inserts bold text for inner monologue. Both are standard roleplay formatting conventions.

Tap the 3-dot menu in any chat ? Tune Response. You'll see sliders for Response Length, Creativity, and Character Adherence. Available to Founders and NAKAMA+ subscribers.

Likes (❤️) are public and contribute to leaderboard rankings. Bookmarks (🔖) are private — they save the character to your Library for easy access.

Open any character ? tap the creator's name ? tap Follow on their profile. Following lets you filter Discover to their characters.

Open the character detail ? tap the flag icon ? write a brief description and tap Report. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.

Go to Settings ? Subscription ? tap the NAKAMA+ or PRO tier. Payment is processed through Google Play. You can cancel anytime.

Your characters and conversation history are never deleted. If you downgrade, you lose access to premium features but your data stays intact.

Founder is a permanent tier given to early beta testers. Original beta testers get full PRO features forever. Open Testing participants get permanent NAKAMA+ and a "Founding Member" badge.

Founder grants are closed for new members. If you participated in the beta and didn't receive your badge, join the Discord and reach out to a moderator.
